Community Grants Totaling $82K Awarded
The Community Foundation of Muncie and Delaware County awarded $82,172 in Community Grants this week.
Community Grants provide nonprofit organizations serving Muncie and Delaware County with the opportunity to apply for funding to support their work. Grants are awarded to address the broad needs of Muncie and Delaware County.
Organizations interested in applying for funding are encouraged to connect with the Foundation's Program and Nonprofit Relations team. Through these conversations, Foundation staff and volunteers develop a deeper understanding of the needs within the community, identify resources and support beyond grantmaking, and provide nonprofits more time to focus on their mission work.
Community Grants are announced quarterly. The Board of Directors of The Community Foundation approved 9 Community Grants totaling $82,172 during the fourth quarter of 2025.
Youth Symphony Orchestras of East Central Indiana received $10,000 to support their mission to provide musical experiences and education for young musicians through concerts, rehearsals, special events, and field trips.
Boys & Girls Club of Muncie received $5,000 for operations support. This grant was funded by the Unrestricted Fund of The Community Foundation.
Christian Ministries of Delaware County, Inc. received $25,000 to support family services programs. This grant was funded by the Unrestricted Fund of The Community Foundation, Michael N. Baur Fund, Gordon and Pam Cox Fund, Linda and Connie Gregory Fund, Heeter Family Fund, KAKATU Foundation/David and Joanna Meeks Fund, LEAP Managed IT Fund, Michael O. and Nicole T. Lunsford Fund, Maxon Foundation Fund, David and Mary Jane Sursa Fund, and Faye Wingate Fund.
Forge ECI received $12,500 for operations support. This grant was funded by the Unrestricted Fund of The Community Foundation.
Muncie Action Plan received $12,000 for operations support. This grant was funded by the Unrestricted Fund of The Community Foundation, Bassett Family Fund, and Jim and Mary Rosema Fund.
Muncie Public Library received $7,000 to improve accessibility at Maring-Hunt Library. This grant was funded by the Bassett Family Fund, Forrest L. and Mary E. Bowers Family Legacy Fund, Trent and Karen Dowling Fund, Ric and Lisa Dwenger Family Fund, Mark and Molly Ervin Fund, Greg and Molly Harty Fund, John C. Kelly and Marcia Ressler Kelly Fund, and Todd and Janie Murray Family Fund.
Second Harvest Food Bank of East Central Indiana, Inc. received $5,000 for emergency food purchases. This grant was funded by the Unrestricted Fund of The Community Foundation.
Town of Selma received $672 for the Christmas in Selma community event. This grant was funded by the Liberty Perry Selma Town Endowment Fund.
Town of Yorktown received $5,000 to support a community fitness court. This grant was funded by the Town of Yorktown Endowment Fund.
Youth Symphony Orchestras of East Central Indiana received $10,000 for youth music education. This grant was funded by the Maxon Foundation Fund and Natalie LaShay Teague Fund.
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Grant requests are reviewed and approved quarterly. Community Grants are awarded to fund projects and programs for which there is a demonstrable community benefit in one of the following areas of interest: arts and culture, community betterment, economic development, education, and human services. With an endowment of over $93 million, the Foundation has distributed nearly $68 million in grants and scholarships to date.
