Memorial Funds

Create a Meaningful Legacy

When a loved one passes, family and friends often seek meaningful ways to honor their memory. The Community Foundation of Muncie and Delaware County offers a simple and compassionate option through the Memorial Fund.

How It Works

To help us support you with care and accuracy, we ask that a designated family member download and complete the Memorial Fund Form. This form provides the essential details we need to recognize incoming memorial gifts and ensure they can be directed according to your family’s wishes.

Once the form is filled out, please send it to a member of our Donor Relations Team to inform us of your intentions allowing us to begin tracking gifts appropriately.

After you have sent us the form, include a message in your loved one’s obituary, such as:

“In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions in memory of [Name] to the Memorial Fund at The Community Foundation of Muncie and Delaware County.”

By including this message, family and friends can properly direct their memorial contributions. The Community Foundation’s staff will collect and acknowledge all gifts, then meet with you to determine how the contributions should be used.

How are Donations Used?

Donations collected in memory of your loved one can be used in a variety of ways. When you’re ready, our staff will meet with you to learn more about your loved one and explore options. Together, we’ll decide how the memorial gifts will be used.

Contributions may be used to:

  • Start a new fund

  • Support an existing fund

  • Make a one-time grant
