Community Shows Up for Arts

Artspace Visits Muncie - Engages more than 300

Last week, The Community Foundation hosted Artspace, the nation's leading nonprofit developer and consultant of affordable space for artists and arts organizations. Artspace is developing a Creative Spaces Action Plan that articulates short and long-term implementation strategies for strengthening the local creative sector. This plan will serve as a road map to support arts and creative placemaking activities that establish an arts identity for Muncie and Delaware County.

As part of their visit, Artspace consultants Kelli and Wendy shared at a public forum, led four focus groups, and visited creative sites all over Muncie. During their three-day visit, they interacted with 300 residents!

The Arts and Culture Matters Public Forum, held on Tuesday, March 12, at Muncie Civic Theater, had a crowd of more than 200 people. The crowd was energized to share and support the community’s creative sector.

In June, Artspace will share a Creative Spaces Action Plan with the Foundation that compliments other community plans and focuses on a strong creative sector and arts identity for our community.
