When do you announce scholarship recipients?

The Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship is announced in December annually, and the scholarships selected by The Community Foundation are announced during April and May.

I am unsure if I meet the qualifications for a scholarship. Can I still apply?

If you are unsure if you meet the qualifications for a scholarship, please reach out to your guidance counselor or a program officer at The Community Foundation. Students that do not meet the qualifications listed on a scholarship are not forwarded to the scholarship review committee.

Who reviews my scholarship application? Who decides if a scholarship is awarded?

The Community Foundation’s scholarship committees designated for each type of scholarship review all applications and make recommendations to the Board of Directors. Committees are made up of volunteers of people that work and live in Delaware County.  The Board of Directors ultimately approve or deny all requests. Staff of The Community Foundation does not approve or deny scholarship applications.

I have been awarded a scholarship. What do I do next?

Once you are awarded a scholarship you will receive an e-mail directing you to provide additional information through the online scholarship system. You will need to provide The Community Foundation with the names of your parents/guardians (how you would like them to appear in a press release), the college you will be attending, your student ID, major, headshot, and a thank you note to your scholarship's donor. I can't find the PDF scholarship application. How do I apply for a scholarship?

We no longer accept paper or PDF applications. Scholarships applications must be submitted online. You will need to create a username and password to gain access. If you are not sure if you already have a username, please call 765-747-7181 or email scholarships@cfmdin.org and speak with a program officer. 

I have a question about The Community Foundation scholarships. Who should I contact?

High school students are encouraged to first contact their guidance counselor, as they have all of the information on scholarships administered by The Community Foundation. If your guidance counselor needs additional information they can reach out to us directly. If you are a college student or a high school student outside of Delaware County, please call 765-747-7181 or e-mail scholarships@cfmdin.org to speak with a program officer.
