Funders Forum Collaborative Awards $40,500 to Assist Community Response and Recovery Efforts Related to COVID-19 Pandemic

Funders in Delaware County have come together to pool knowledge, experiences, and resources to make a collective impact and respond to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Funders Forum Collaborative, which typically awards grants at the end of the year, has awarded a record-setting $40,500 in grant funding during the second quarter of 2020 in response to current community needs.

Delaware County Circuit Courts received $8,500 to support an Alternative Dispute Resolution program that provides mediators for tenants and landlords to settle eviction disagreements out of court. While evictions have been temporarily furloughed, the court system anticipates a rise in eviction disputes when the furlough is lifted.

Eight Level Three and Level Four Paths to Quality Pre-K Providers received a total of $16,000 to support compliance-related expenses related to reopening. To protect the health and safety of children, teachers, and families, centers may be required to reconfigure spaces, retrain staff, implement intensive cleaning protocols, replace community play equipment, and provide personal protective equipment. Centers receiving a $2,000 grant are 501c3 organizations and include:

Destiny Christian Childcare Center – Muncie

Destiny Christian Childcare Center – Central

GT Kids Daycare and Preschool, Inc.

Huffer Memorial Childcare Center

Mitchell Early Learning Center

Precious Hearts Development Center

Transition Resources Corporation Head Start

United Day Care

Eight K-12 Public School Systems received a total of $16,000 ($2,000 each) to support the investigation and planning related to longer-term and equitable solutions for technology resilience. This funding incentivizes schools as they begin the planning process for next and future school years regarding distance learning challenges and opportunities. This grant is the first in a two-step process. Following the development of their plan, school systems will be invited to apply to The Community Foundation for implementation funding. Applications will be shared with Funders Forum Collaborative members. School systems receiving a $2,000 grant include:

Burris Laboratory School

Cowan Community Schools

Daleville Community Schools

Delaware Community Schools

Liberty-Perry Community Schools

Muncie Community Schools

Wes-Del Community Schools

Yorktown Community Schools
