Yorktown Nonprofits Receive $3,500 in Grant Funding from the Town of Yorktown Endowment Fund at The Community Foundation

The Community Foundation of Muncie and Delaware County, Inc., through the Town of Yorktown Endowment Fund, is awarding $3,500 in grants to two organizations serving the Yorktown community.

Yorktown / Mt. Pleasant Township Historical Alliance has been awarded $2,500. The Historical Alliance is working toward a safer and more attractive facility. This grant will support carpet replacement.

Yorktown Band Boosters Association has been awarded $1,000. The grant will be used to purchase new uniforms and equipment for the marching band, as well as instrument purchases and repairs for the entire band program.

The Town of Yorktown Endowment Fund was established in 2000 by Howard Gregory, a longtime resident and leader in the community. Howard took great pride in his community and wanted to make sure that Yorktown continued to thrive and grow long after he was gone. In 2008 marketing and promotion efforts were relaunched for this important fund. With significant help from the Yorktown Lions Club an additional $30,000 was contributed to this fund. The Town of Yorktown Endowment Fund at The Community Foundation guarantees a steady stream of income to fund worthwhile projects in Yorktown for years to come. Applications are accepted annually on May 1.

The Community Foundation of Muncie and Delaware County, Inc. is a publicly supported philanthropic institution governed by a volunteer board of local citizens. The Foundation manages contributions donated by individuals, businesses, and corporations as a permanent community endowment. Grants to nonprofits from these funds benefit the community. More than $57 million has been awarded to enrich the lives of Muncie and Delaware County residents.
