Selma Nonprofits Receives $1,000 in Grant Funding from the Liberty Perry Selma Town Endowment Fund at The Community Foundation
The Community Foundation of Muncie and Delaware County, Inc., through the Liberty Perry Selma Town Endowment Fund, is awarding $1,000 to two nonprofit organizations serving the residents of Selma and Liberty and Perry Townships.
Town of Selma has been awarded $500 to purchase a mower trailer. The trailer will allow town maintenance staff to safely transport the lawn mower between properties in the town, including to the fire department which requires crossing State Road 32.
Selma Athletic League has been awarded $500 to purchase park benches. The Selma Athletic League offers baseball and softball opportunities for children of all ages in the community. This grant will defray the cost of purchasing recyclable park benches to be used at the ball diamonds.
The Liberty Perry Selma Town Endowment Fund started as an Acorn Fund with a small initial investment and then grew to a mighty oak with the help of residents and a match from the Foundation's Rural Philanthropy Fund. The charge was led by members of the town council, township government, and the local school system to build a fund to support projects for the local community. The endowment makes grants annually to support projects in Liberty Township, Perry Township, or the Town of Selma that are reviewed and recommended to The Community Foundation board by a committee of dedicated residents. Applications are accepted annually on May 1.
The Community Foundation of Muncie and Delaware County, Inc. is a publicly supported philanthropic institution governed by a volunteer board of local citizens. The Foundation manages contributions donated by individuals, businesses, and corporations as a permanent community endowment. Grants to nonprofits from these funds benefit the community. More than $57 million has been awarded to enrich the lives of Muncie and Delaware County residents.
