Selma Nonprofits Receive $745 in Grant Funding from the Liberty Perry Selma Town Endowment Fund at The Community Foundation
The Community Foundation of Muncie and Delaware County, Inc., through the Liberty Perry Selma Town Endowment Fund is awarding $745 to two organizations serving the Selma area.
BY5 Early Childhood Initiative was awarded $500 to support Kickoff to Kindergarten at Selma Elementary School. The program, which will run in the weeks prior to school’s start, is designed to improve readiness of incoming kindergarteners.
Selma Athletic League was awarded $245 to support their operations. Selma Athletic League offers baseball and softball opportunities for children of all ages in the community.
The Liberty Perry Selma Town Endowment Fund started as an Acorn Fund with a small initial investment and then grew to a mighty oak with the help of local residents and a match from the Foundation's Rural Philanthropy Fund. The charge was led by members of the town council, township government, and the local school system to build a fund to support projects for the local community. The endowment makes grants annually to support projects in Liberty Township, Perry Township, or the Town of Selma that are reviewed and recommended to The Community Foundation board by a committee of dedicated local residents. Applications are accepted annually on May 1.
The Community Foundation of Muncie and Delaware County, Inc. is a publicly supported philanthropic institution governed by a volunteer board of local citizens. The Foundation manages contributions donated by individuals, businesses and corporations as a permanent community endowment. Distributions from these funds are given back to the community in the form of grants to nonprofit organizations and agencies. To date, over $51 million has been awarded to enrich the lives of the residents of Muncie and Delaware County.
