A crowd of more than 200 local business and community leaders turned out
Thursday, March 18th, for the inaugural Chamber Champions awards
luncheon, organized by the Muncie-Delaware County Chamber of Commerce, to
honored community residents for their volunteerism.
Among those honored was the Foundation's President, Roni Johnson. She received the Al Rent Spirit of Muncie Award for her "contagious enthusiasm, boundless energy and unquestioned integrity."
The award was created in 2002 and named after Al Rent, a longtime local broadcaster, Ball State University official and Chamber volunteer. The award is given to "a volunteer who has dedicated many hours to serving the Chamber and the community."
The Community Foundation was also awarded the Chamber's Longevity Award during the luncheon for its 25 years of continuous service in the community.
