Scholarships 2005

Sarah E. Adams Scholarships
Brittany Lancaster (top) and Rachel Delph (bottom), graduates of Delta High School, are recipients of this year’s Sarah E. Adams Scholarships. Awarded to members of Delaware County High School girls golf teams who have displayed good citizenship and a positive attitude for life, these scholarships are for use while attending an accredited college or university in the State of Indiana. Lancaster, daughter of Bret Lancaster and Juli Huston, plans to study chemistry at Ball State University. Delph, daughter of Randall & Jane Delph, plans to study nursing at Anderson University.

Michael Brodhead Scholarship
Robert Flowers, a graduate of Wapahani High School, is the 2005 recipient of the Michael Brodhead Scholarship. This scholarship is awarded to a Delaware County High School college-bound senior who has overcome a physical disability while achieving a high level of academics and participating in other activities outside the classroom. Flowers, son of Robert & Brenda Flowers, plans to study elementary/special education at Ball State University.

Creviston Scholarship
Molly Smith (photo not available), a graduate of Cowan High School, is this year’s recipient of the Creviston Scholarship. This scholarship is awarded to a graduate of Cowan High School who wishes to attend a post-high school institution. Smith, daughter of Everett & Donna Smith, plans to attend Purdue University.

Delaware Community Schools Scholarship
Brittany Luellen, a graduate of Delta High School, is the 2005 recipient of the Delaware Community Schools Scholarship. This scholarship is awarded to a senior at Delta High School who has given evidence of scholarship, diligence, goals, and citizenship conclusive to successful educational goals and productive leadership in the community. The recipient may elect to attend any recognized institute/school of post-high school studies. Luellen, daughter of Steve and Lynn Luellen, plans to study elementary education and Spanish at Anderson University.

Jon Hunter Scholarships
Michael Bailey is one of this year’s recipients of the Jon Hunter Scholarship. These scholarships are awarded to graduates of Wes-Del High School who demonstrate love of and dedication to their sport and who possess high moral character.

Bailey, son of Mr. & Mrs. Ron Bailey, plans to study religion at Calvin College. Three additional Jon Hunter Scholarships were awarded by Wes-Del High School. These recipients include Tara Davidson, Alyssa Ritter, and Kyle Cunningham.

J Scholarship
Robert Whittemore, a senior majoring in Business at Ball State University, is the 2005 recipient of the J Scholarship. He is the son of Patty Gale and Rob L. Whittemore. This scholarship is awarded to a student from a county high school in Delaware County who is interested in obtaining a business degree from the Ball State University School of Business.

Grace Maring Scholarship
Erin Garrett, a graduate of Wapahani High School, is the 2005 recipient of the Grace Maring Scholarship. This scholarship is awarded to a Wapahani High School student residing in Perry Township who plans to attend any recognized post-high school institution. Garrett, daughter of John & Kerry Garrett, plans to study secondary education at Ball State University.

McDonald’s Restaurants of Delaware and Madison Counties Scholarships
Five students are this year’s recipients of the McDonalds Restaurants of Delaware and Madison Counties Scholarships.

  • Thomas Brown plans to attend Purdue University of Technology (photo not available).
  • Kylie Smith (left) plans to continue her studies in political science at Ball State University.
  • Kurt Evans (middle) plans to study accounting at Manchester College.
  • Jacob Miller plans to attend IUPUI (photo not available).
  • Nicole Rhoades (right) plans to continue her studies in nursing at Ball State University.

Awarded from the Robert and Beverly Terhune Fund, these five $1,000 scholarships are given to employees of the Terhune McDonald’s restaurants in Delaware or Madison Counties.

Rozelle-Camplin Scholarship
Whitney Moody (right) and Kara Levell (left), graduates of Daleville High School, are the 2005 recipients of the Rozelle-Camplin Scholarship. These scholarships are awarded to graduates of Daleville High School. Selection is based on scholarship, community service, citizenship, and participation in student activities.

Moody, daughter of Darrell & Cindy Moody, plans to study biology and physical therapy at Indiana University. Levell, daughter of Tim and Mary Ann Levell, plans to study biochemistry at Purdue University.

George & Nelda Van Laningham Scholarship
Amanda Reagle, a senior majoring in entrepreneurship at Ball State University, is this year’s recipient of the George and Nelda Van Laningham Scholarship. This scholarship is awarded to entrepreneurship students in the Small Business Management/Entrepreneurship Program at Ball State University.

Wingate Scholarship
Curita Westbrook, a graduate of Muncie Southside High School, is the 2005 recipient of the Wingate Scholarship. This scholarship is awarded to a junior or senior nursing student at Ball State University. Recipients must have graduated from a Delaware County High School and preference is given to those students who intend to practice their profession in Delaware County. Westbrook, daughter of Allison Westbrook and Curtis Westbrook, plans to study nursing at Ball State University.

Yorktown Lions Club Scholarships
Celeste Ruttan and Jeffrey Neff, graduates of Yorktown High School, are this year’s recipients of the Yorktown Lions Club, Inc., Scholarships These scholarships are awarded to Yorktown High School graduates who maintain an 8.0/12.0 GPA and display good citizenship. Ruttan, daughter of Christine Sigler & Chip Ruttan, plans to study communications at Ball State University. Neff, son of Alan & Barbara Neff, plans to study mathematics education at Ball State University.

Lilly Endowment Community Scholarships
Megan Rybarczyk , a graduate of Delta High School, and Derek King, a graduate of Muncie Southside High School, are this year’s recipients of the Lilly Endowment Community Scholarships. Scholarships are awarded to Delaware County residents who will have graduated by the end of June 2005 with a diploma from an accredited Delaware County high school and who have been accepted to pursue a full-time baccalaureate course of study beginning in the Fall of 2005 at an accredited public or private college or university in Indiana. Consideration is given to student activities and achievements, community and civic service, academic ability and potential for leadership.

Rybarczyk, daughter of Jim and Kimberly Rybarczyk, plans to study biology and pre-med at the University of Notre Dame. King, son of Kim and Janet King, plans to study economics at DePauw University.

Community Foundation Scholarships
Nineteen students are the 2005 recipients of The Community Foundation Scholarships:

  • Pamela Abel of Southside High School plans to attend Ball State University. She is the daughter of James & Debra Abel.
  • Matthew Allardt of Muncie Central High School plans to study business or pre-medicine at Indiana University. He is the son of Brian & Janie Allardt.
  • Jennifer Caudill of Muncie Southside High School plans to study sociology or secondary education at Hanover College or Anderson University. She is the daughter of Pamela Cochran and Carl Caudill.
  • Jodi Conwell of Wapahani High School plans to study secondary mathematical education and biblical literature at Cornerstone University. She is the daughter of George & Cynthia Conwell.
  • Kinsey Foley of Muncie Central High School plans to study second- ary education at the University of Evansville. She is the daughter of Tim & Celeste Foley.
  • Joshua Greenlee of Delta High School plans to study pre-medicine at the University of Indianapolis. He is the son of David & Juie Greenlee.
  • Daniel Guillaud of Yorktown High School plans to study biology or chemistry at Ball State University. He is the son of Robert & Sue Guillaud.
  • Laura Huggler of Burris Laboratory School plans to study landscape architecture at Purdue University or Ball State University. She is the daughter of Gary & Katherine Huggler.
  • Stephanie Jones of Yorktown High School plans to study exercise science at Kalamazoo College. She is the daughter of Steve & Jan Jones.
  • Lauren Kelley of Wes-Del High School plans to study pre-law at Tulane University. She is the daughter of Jerry & Jane Kelley.
  • James LeRoy of Muncie Southside High School plans to study pre- dentistry or accounting at Ball State University. He is the son of James & Connie LeRoy.
  • Nathan Mills of Muncie Central High School plans to study engineering and management at Purdue University. He is the son of Tim & Carol Mills.
  • Whitney Moody of Daleville High School plans to study biology and physical therapy at Indiana University. She is the daugh- ter of Darrell & Cindy Moody.
  • Cody Panszi of Muncie Central High School plans to attend Indiana University. He is the son of Joseph & Teresa Panszi. • Molly Smith of Cowan High School plans to attend Purdue University. She is the daughter of Everett & Donna Smith.
  • Benjamin Thomas of Delta High School plans to study arch- itecture at Ball State University. He is the son of Kent & Janis Thomas.
  • Alex Whiteman of Delta High School plans to study aerospace engineering at Purdue University. He is the son of Tom & Juliet Whiteman.
  • Alexander Winney of Yorktown High School plans to study physics at the University of Chicago. He is the son of Wayne & Gail Winney.
  • Jiefei Yuan of the Indiana Academy plans to study business economics at Indiana University. She is the daughter of Yang Yuan & Billian Shen.

Scholarships are awarded to honor nominees of the Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship Program.
