Quarterly Competitive Grants
The Community Foundation's purpose is to contribute to improving the quality of life in Muncie and Delaware County for this generation and generations to come. To that end, grants are awarded to fund projects for which there is a demonstrable community benefit in one of the following areas of interest: arts and culture, human services, economic development, education, and community betterment.

Robert P. Bell Education Grants
Teachers often have instructional ideas they would like to implement in their classrooms. Unfortunately, a lack of funds can prevent them from moving forward. The Robert P. Bell Education Grants are awarded to teachers with innovative ideas, programs, or projects that are designed to stimulate learning in their students. Grants range in size from $50 - $450.

Donor Advised Grants
Donors who have established a Donor Advised Fund may be actively involved in the grant making by suggesting which organizations should receive grants from their fund. These flexible funds enable donors to address a wide variety of issues as their charitable interests and priorities change over time. The Board of Directors retains final discretion over the grants made from each fund.

Once the Donor Advised Grant Request has been submitted, it will be voted on at the next meeting of the Community Foundation Board of Directors. Once approved, a check will be prepared at our next check run. Generally, payments are processed on the 10th and 25th of each month.

Kitselman Grants
Harry and Janet Kitselman were residents and civic leaders in the Muncie community. Per Mr. and Mrs. Kitselman's wishes, a fund was created to administer and distribute funds for the good of the people of Muncie, Indiana, and the surrounding community. The following areas of focus have been established for grants from the fund: fine arts, recreation, children, and the history of East Central Indiana. The Kitselman Advisory Board meets one or more times each year to review applications and make recommendations to the Board of Directors of The Community Foundation, which makes the final selection of grant recipients.  Kitselman applications are reviewed in the first quarter of each year, so applicants are requested to submit their application materials by December 31st of each year.   Most grants from the Fund will be of a significant amount, usually in excess of $25,000.

Maxon Fund Grants
The Maxon Fund was established when assets of The Maxon Foundation were transferred to The Community Foundation of Muncie and Delaware County, Inc.  The Maxon Foundation was originally established by Maxon Corporation and the founding family as a way to give back to the community and support worthy causes in Delaware County.  2010 Maxon grant applications are due July 30, 2010.   Applicants will be notified of the status of their grant award no later than September 30, 2010.

Yorktown Fund Grants
Howard Gregory was a longtime resident and leader in the town of Yorktown.  In 2000 he established a fund to benefit the town of Yorktown at The Community Foundation of Muncie and Delaware County, Inc.  Howard took great pride in his community and wanted to make sure that Yorktown continued to thrive and grow long after he was gone.  In 2008 marketing and promotion efforts were re-launched for this important fund.  With significant help from the Yorktown Lions Club an additional $30,000 was contributed to this Fund.  The Yorktown Fund at the Foundation guarantees a steady stream of income to fund worthwhile projects in Yorktown for years to come.
