25th Anniversary Celebration

At the celebration luncheon on May 20, 2010, at the Horizon Convention Center, the Foundation originally planned to award $25,000 to four of the endowed agency funds.  Due to the overwhelming sponsorship support from area businesses and individual donors, two additional surprise grants were given for a total of $28,000.....and the winners are:

A Better Way Services - $10,000

Motivate Our Minds - $7,500

Beyond I Can - $5,000

Youth Opportunity Center - $2,500

Animal Rescue Fund (ARF) - $1,500

Muncie Civic Theatre - $1,500

Community Foundation Scholarships

When we serve students, we serve our community.


The Foundation is pleased to offer a variety of scholarships to area students who wish to pursue higher education. Unless otherwise noted, information about the following scholarships is available through your local high school guidance office, or by contacting us.

Sarah E. Adams Scholarship
Awarded to a member of a Delaware County high school girls' golf team who has displayed good citizenship and a positive attitude. This scholarship is for use while attending an accredited college or university in Indiana. Click here for application.


Michele Barnhart Hires Scholarship

Awarded to a graduating senior at Daleville Junior/Senior High School who plans to attend either a recognized Indiana post-high school educational facility (college, junior college, trade school, etc.) or Pepperdine University.  Applicants must have a B or C grade point average.  This scholarship is designed to honor the achievements of those students who may not receive other major scholarship awards, and preference will be given to those applicants when selecting a recipient.

Michael Brodhead Scholarship
Awarded to a Delaware County college bound-senior who has overcome a physical handicap while achieving a high level of academics and participating in other activities outside of the classroom. Interested students can contact their high school guidance counselor or the Special Education Cooperative office for more information. Click here for application.

E.A. & E.E. Burgess Scholarship
Awarded to a graduate of Muncie Central High School or Connersville Senior High School who is enrolled in Ball State University's College of Applied Science and Technology to pursue a degree in hospitality and food management, dietetics, dietetics technology or vocational family and consumer sciences education. To apply, students should contact the Dean's Office in the Ball State University College of Applied Science and Technology.

Creviston Scholarship
This four year scholarship is awarded to seniors of Cowan High School who wish to attend a post-high school institution. Preference is given to students entering the field of engineering.

Delaware Community Schools Memorial Scholarship
Awarded to seniors at Delta High School who give evidence of scholarship, diligence, and citizenship conclusive to successful educational goals and productive leadership in the community.

Hurley C. and Fredine (Wynn) Goodall Scholarship
Awarded to minority students demonstrating financial need and enrolled in the two-year associate degree program at Ivy Tech State College. For more information, students should contact the Financial Aid Office at Ivy Tech.

Zach Greenwalt Scholarship
Awarded to a Wes-Del high school graduate who maintains a C average or greater and displays positive character and good citizenship.  This scholarship is for use at any accredited post high school institution of higher education/training.  Consideration will be given to the applicant's financial situation.

Ollie Mae Hammond Scholarship
Awarded to graduating high school seniors who are active members of the youth group of Antioch Baptist Church in Muncie. To apply, students should contact the Antioch Baptist Church pastor or their high school guidance counselor.

Janice Paige Hughes Scholarship
Awarded to a Delaware County resident majoring in education and specializing in the teaching of special education or handicapped students. Applicants must be enrolled full-time at a college or university in the State of Indiana and be at least in the third year of studies at the university level. Click here for application.

Jon Hunter Scholarship
Awarded to students of Wes-Del High School who have participated in, and shown dedication to, a school sport and have demonstrated high moral character.

J. Scholarship
Awarded to a student entering or currently enrolled in the School of Business or the Small Business Management/Entrepreneurship Program at Ball State University. To be eligible, a student must have graduated from a state-accredited county school in Delaware County. To apply, students should contact the Dean's Office in the Ball State University College of Business.

Alice Miriam Kitselman Scholarship
Awarded to a graduating senior from Burris Laboratory School who has indicated a desire and ability to study medicine or surgery. Consideration is also given to moral character and need.

Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship
Awarded to Delaware County residents who will graduate with a high school diploma from an accredited high school in Delaware County and who have been accepted to pursue a full-time baccalaureate course of study at an accredited public or private college or university in Indiana. The scholarship will provide full tuition, required fees and a special allocation of up to $800 per year for books and equipment required for four years of undergraduate study. Carolyn A. Lucas Scholarship
Awarded to an outstanding high school chemistry student at Yorktown High School who demonstrates good character and good citizenship.  A minimum GPA of 3.0 is required.  This scholarship may be used at any accredited institution of higher learning.

Grace Maring Scholarship
Awarded to a Wapahani High School student residing in Perry Township and planning to attend any recognized institute/school of post-high school studies. The recipient must have completed three years of high school at Wapahani High School, including the senior year.

Dr. William J. McNabney and Thelma V. McNabney Memorial Scholarship
This four year scholarship is awarded to a college-bound senior from an accredited high school in Delaware County. In awarding the scholarship, consideration will be given to the following criteria: moral character, academic ability, extra-curricular activities, potential for leadership, civic responsibility, and financial need. McDonald's Restaurants of Delaware and Madison Counties Scholarship
Awarded to employees of the Terhune McDonald's restaurants in Delaware and Madison Counties. Both incoming freshman and current college students are eligible for this award. Employees may pick up an application from their store manager.

Donald Lee Patton Memorial Scholarship
Awarded to a member of a high school wrestling team who demonstrates a love for wrestling and a spirit of winning. To be eligible, a student must have at least two years of wrestling involvement at the high school level. For more information, students should contact their high school wrestling coach or guidance counselor. Click here for application.

Arthur D. and Josephine M. Robling Scholarship
Awarded to a senior at each participating high school in Delaware County. This one time award can be used at any college, university, trade or technical school, or other recognized institution of higher education. Recipients must be residents of Delaware County, be of good moral character and a good citizen, and must have maintained at least a 2.5/4.0 cumulative GPA.

Kathleen Rozelle-Camplin Scholarship
Awarded to graduating seniors of Daleville High School who are planning to attend any recognized institute of post high school studies. Selection is based on scholarship, community service, citizenship, and participation in school activities.

Muncie Southside High School Spirit of '71 Scholarship
The Muncie Southside High School Class of 1971 recognizes the importance of higher education and the cost to achieve it. With this in mind, the Class of 1971 has created a scholarship for a deserving Southside graduating senior to pursue his/her dream of furthering their education. Applicants must be ranked in the top twenty percent of the class, plan to attend an accredited Indiana college, university or technical college, and demonstrate financial need. Applicants should have participated in extra-curricular activities or held a job outside of school and demonstrated good citizenship.
*The first Muncie Southside High School Spirit of '71 Scholarship will be awarded in 2011.

George and Nelda Van Laningham Scholarship
Awarded to a Ball State University student enrolled in the Small Business/Entrepreneurship program. To apply, students should contact the Dean's Office in the Ball State University College of Business.

Angie Wilson Scholarship Award
Awarded to a graduating senior from Burris Laboratory School who plans a career in teaching after college. Consideration is given academic achievement, financial need, and the quality and genuineness of an essay submitted upon application.

Wilfred Wingate Scholarship
Awarded to a junior or senior woman currently enrolled in Ball State University's School of Nursing. Candidates must have graduated from a Delaware County high school. Preference shall be given to those who intend to practice nursing in Delaware County.

Yorktown Lions Club Scholarship
Awarded to Yorktown High School seniors who wish to attend a college, university, trade or business school located within Indiana. To qualify, students must have maintained an 8.0/12.0 GPA and display good citizenship.
