Scholarships 2007

Sarah E. Adams Scholarship
Jessie Mynett, a graduate of Muncie Central High School, is the 2007 recipient of the Sarah E. Adams Scholarship.

Awarded to a member of a Delaware County High School girls golf team who has displayed good citizenship and a positive attitude for life, this scholarship is for use while attending an accredited college or university in the State of Indiana.

Mynett, the daughter of Robert and Kelly Mynett, plans to study elementary education at Ball State University.

Michael Brodhead Scholarship
Natasha Lynn Reed, a graduate of Wapahani High School, is the 2007 recipient of the Michael Brodhead Scholarship.

This scholarship is awarded to a Delaware County college-bound senior who has overcome a physical disability while achieving a high level of academics and participating in other activities outside the classroom.

Reed, the daughter of Richard and Vickie Reed, plans to study biology at IUPUI.

Creviston Scholarship
Jessica C. Mullins, a graduate of Cowan High School, is the 2007 recipient of the Creviston Scholarship.

This scholarship is awarded to a graduate of Cowan High School who wishes to attend a post-high school institution. Preference is given to students entering the field of engineering. This scholarship honors Max V. Creviston and Nellie Cathrine Creviston. Eight of the Creviston's nine children and many of their grandchildren graduated from Cowan High School.

Jessica C. Mullins, the niece of Tom West and Cheri West, plans to attend Ball State University.

Delaware Community Schools Scholarship
Autumn Davis has been named the 2007 recipient of the Delaware Community Schools Scholarship.

This scholarship is awarded to a senior at Delta High School who has given evidence of scholarship, diligence, goals, and citizenship conclusive to successful educational goals and productive leadership in the community. The recipient may elect to attend any recognized institute/school of post-high school studies.

Davis is the daughter of Randall and Jodi Davis. She plans to study registered nursing at Ball State University.

Yorktown Lions Club, Inc. Scholarships
Sally J. Barrett and Shelly Ann Smith are this year's recipients of the Yorktown Lions Club, Inc. Scholarships.

These scholarships are awarded to Yorktown High School graduates who maintain an 8.0/12.0 GPA and display good citizenship.

Barrett, the daughter of Norm and Jo Barrett, plans to study hospitality at Ball State University.

Smith, the daughter of Gregory and Susan Smith, plans to study nursing at the University of Indianapolis.

Rozelle-Camplin Scholarships
Kathryn Garrison, Catherine McManus, and Spencer Ozbun are the 2007 recipients of the Rozelle-Camplin Scholarships.

Garrison, the daughter of Paul and Vickie Garrison, plans to study marketing/fashion merchandising at Ball State University.

McManus, the daughter of Deborah and Gary McManus, plans to pursue degrees in international studies and Spanish at Indiana University.

Ozbun, the son of Greg and Melanie Ozbun, plans to study pre-medicine at Indiana University.

These scholarships are awarded to graduates of Daleville High School. Selection is based on scholarship, community service, citizenship and participation in school activities.

Jon Hunter Scholarships
The Community Foundation of Muncie and Delaware County, Inc., has announced that Joseph Edwards and Shea Michael Johnson have been named the 2007 recipients of Jon Hunter Memorial Scholarships.

Edwards is the son of Joseph Edwards and Kenna Drake. He plans to study economics at Wabash College.

Johnson is the son of Brian and Julie Johnson. He plans to study German at Ball State University.

The scholarship was established by the family of the late Jon Hunter and is awarded to graduates of Wes-Del High School. Recipients must demonstrate love and dedication to their sport and possess high moral character.

Donald Lee Patton Memorial Scholarship
The Community Foundation of Muncie and Delaware County, Inc., has announced that Shea Michael Johnson is the 2007 recipient of the Donald Lee Patton Memorial Scholarship.

Johnson is the son of Brian and Julie Johnson. He plans to study German at Ball state University.

In honor of five-time Indiana State Champion Wrestling Coach and former Delta High School Athletic Director Donald Patton, this scholarship is awarded to members of a high school wrestling team who demonstrates love for wrestling and a spirit of winning. To be eligible, students must have at least two years of wrestling involvement at the high school level.

J Scholarship
The Community Foundation of Muncie and Delaware County, Inc., has announced that Matthew Bare is the 2007 recipient of the J Scholarship.

Bare is a senior majoring in Entrepreneurship at Ball State University. He is the son of Steven and Marilyn Bare.

This scholarship is awarded to a student from a county high school in Delaware County who is interested in obtaining a business degree from the Ball State University School of Business.

George and Nelda Van Laningham Scholarship
The Community Foundation of Muncie and Delaware County, Inc., has announced that Brian Geiselhart, a student at Ball State University, is the 2007 recipient of the George and Nelda Van Laningham Scholarship. Geiselhart is the son of Kurt and LouAnn Geiselhart.

The scholarship was established by the Junto Club in memory of George and Nelda Van Laningham and is designed for entrepreneurship students in the Small Business Management/Entrepreneurship Program at Ball State University.

Grace K. Maring Scholarships
The Community Foundation of Muncie & Delaware County, Inc., has announced that Ashley Brinkman, Floyd Daniel Penrod IV and Lauren Terrell are the 2007 recipients of the Grace Maring Scholarships.

Brinkman plans to study dietetics at Ball State University. She is the daughter of Mark and Sandy Brinkman.

Penrod plans to study biology/pre-medicine at Ball State University. He is the son of Floyd and Gail Penrod.

Terrell plans to attend Ball State University. She is the daughter of Teresa Terrell and Larry Joe Terrell III.

These scholarships are awarded to Wapahani High School students residing in Perry Township who plan to attend any recognized post-high school institution.

McDonald's Restaurants of Delaware and Madison Counties Scholarships
Five students are the 2007 recipients of the McDonald's Restaurants of Delaware and Madison Counties Scholarships.

Alyssa Brumback, a sophomore at Ball State University, is the daughter of Michael and Kimberly Brumback. She is pursuing a degree in medical technology.

Meranda Kathlene Rachele Cornett, a graduate of Wes-Del High School, is the daughter of Tammy Cornett and Dorain Cornett. She plans to study medical assisting at Ivy Tech.

Chase Ryan Estes, a graduate of Muncie Central High School, is the son of Lisa Kerr and Chad Estes. He plans to study math education at Ball State University.

Joshua Kimmerling, a student of Ivy Tech, is the son of Angela Oliver and Kevin Kimmerling. He is pursuing a degree in computer information technology.

Tyler Sheller, a graduate of Monroe Central Junior/Senior High School, is the son of Don and Beverly Sheller. He plans to study psychology at Ball State University.

Awarded from the Robert and Beverly Terhune Fund, these scholarships are given to employees of the Terhune McDonald's restaurants in Delaware or Madison Counties.

Wingate Scholarship
The Community Foundation of Muncie & Delaware County, Inc., has announced that Amanda Everett is the 2007 recipient of the Wilfred W. Wingate Scholarship.

Everett, the daughter of Arnold Everett and the late Jeanne Everett, plans to continue her study of nursing at Ball State University.

This scholarship is awarded to a junior or senior nursing student at Ball State University. Recipients must have graduated from a Delaware County High School and preference is given to those students who intend to practice their profession in Delaware County.

Lilly Endowment Community Scholarships
Benjamin Craw and Elizabeth Ratchford are this year's recipients of the Lilly Endowment Community Scholarships.

Scholarships are awarded to two Delaware County residents who will have graduated by the end of June 2007 with a diploma from an accredited Delaware County high school and who have been accepted to pursue a full-time baccalaureate course of study beginning in the Fall of 2007 at an accredited public or private college or university in Indiana.

Benjamin Craw, a senior at Muncie Southside High School, plans to study secondary education at Butler University. He is the son of Diane Craw.

Elizabeth Ratchford, a senior at Yorktown High School, plans to study communications (broadcast journalism) at DePauw University. She is the daughter of Robert and Polly Ratchford.

Community Foundation Scholarships
Twenty students are the 2006 recipients of The Community Foundation Scholarships:

Minda A. Beaty of Muncie Southside High School plans to study secondary education in hisotry at Ball State University. She is the daughter of Floyd and Jama Beaty.

Daniel P. Buis of Delta High School plans to study architecture at Ball State University. He is the son of Paul and Barbara Buis.

Kristin A. Crider of Delta High School plans to study chemistry at Butler University. She is the daughter of Mary Ann Foster and Dr. Michael Kenneth Crider.

Joseph G. Edwards of Wes-Del High School plans to study political science at Wabash College. He is the son of Joseph Edwards and Kenna Drake.

Tiffany C. Gehrke of Yorktown High School plans to attend Indiana University. She is the daughter of Douglas and Pamela Gehrke.

MaryAnne E. Guarnery of Muncie Central High School plans to study elementary education at DePauw University. She is the daughter of Susan Guarnery.

KyLeigh A. Harnish of Muncie Southside High School plans to study pre-medicine/biology at Ball State University. She is the daughter of Chris Harnish and Dodi Harnish.

Naomi L. Huffman of Wes-Del High School plans to study creative writing at Columbia College, Chicago. She is the daughter of Brian and Tyann Huffman.

Derek T. Johnson of Muncie Central High School plans to study biochemistry at Purdue University. He is the son of Cherrise Johnson and Brian Johnson.

Kristin K. Johnson of the Indiana Academy plans to study theatre at Butler University. She is the daughter of Sharon Johnson.

Nicholas W. Leonard of Muncie Central High School plans to study biological engineering and genetics at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He is the son of Bill and Kelly Leonard.

Lauren E. Letsinger of Delta High School plans to study pre-medicine/biology at Ball State University. She is the daughter of Pete and Lisa Letsinger.

Jessica C. Mullins of Cowan Jr/Sr High School plans to attend Ball State University. She is the niece of Cheri and Tom West.

Spencer J. Ozbun of Daleville Jr/Sr High School plans to study pre-medicine at Indiana University-Bloomington. He is the son of Greg and Melanie Ozbun.

Melanie R. Rapp of Delta High School plans to study accounting/mathematics at Ball State University. She is the daughter of Keith and Kristie Rapp.

Joseph W. Slabaugh of Muncie Central High School plans to study journalism at Indiana University. He is the son of Seth and Katie Slabaugh.

Laura A. Smith of Wapahani High School plans to study exercise science at Ball State University. She is the daughter of Timothy Smith and Sharon Smith.

Rachel V. Snell of Wapahani High School plans to study exercise science at Ball State University. She is the daughter of Steven J. Snell and Mary D. Snell.

Elliot S. Spengler of Burris Laboratory School plans to study psychology at Butler University. He is the son of Polly Spengler and Paul Spengler.
